Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Denarius (Subaeratus, 19 mm, 2.72 g, 8 h), a contemporary plated imitation of an issue from Lugdunum, irregular mint, after 15 BC. AVGVSTVS DIVI•F Bare head of Augustus to left. Rev. [IMP •X] / ACT• Apollo Citharoedus of Actium advancing to left, holding lyre with his left hand and plectrum in his right. Cf. RIC 171b (for prototype). Breaks in plating and with scratches, otherwise, about very fine.
